Hello Everyone

So right now i am in.... Austin again. which is so sweet. I love Austin. I am in an area name Barton Creek. On a map it is in a place called Bee Cave and the areas around it. The area is one of the richest areas in the mission. In three days i have seen 1 Lamborgini 1 mazeratti 2 bentley and numerous porsches driveing around. It quite different from Hondo almost the oppisite.

Like i told you guy last week we got doubled into the area. The area was split from being the Lake Travis/Barton Creek area to being the Barton Creek and Lake Travis area. The first day we got here we dropped our only investigator and have been spending most of the time finding people to teach. It is not to bad though because my companion Elder Schoney served here one on his first transfers and has a real love for the area. I feel pritty confident in my ability to talk to the people here and the member here seem excited to do missionary work. So i have some high hopes and tonz of faith but if you guys could pray that we will be able to find some investigators that would be great.

Anyway love you all .

Elder loveless

p.s. One last thing if any of you are planning to send me anything hold off for a while because we dont have an apartment for us just yet. It is one of those things that they are "working on".

13 October 2009

Hello everybody

This is elder loveless from here in the TSAM. I hope all ya all are doing fantastic. So i just learned that i will be getting transfered in this upcoming week. I have no idea where i will be going but i do know that me and my new area will be doubling in the area. Which means that both of us will be completely new to the area, which is going to be a challenge. We will have to start with all new investigators. Also my companion will be dying from the mission. So i will have the challenge of keeping him from getting trunky and thinking about home to much. I dont know what the next transfer is going to be like but i do know the lord does. So all i have to do is rely on him and this whole thing will go great. Like it says in Nephi 3 7 the lord has already prepared a way that we can save the soals over in where ever it is that i will be going. Anyway pray for me that i will be able to find the people that are interested in the gospel in my new area. I know i will need all the prayers.

Mom and Dad, thanks for your advice i guess i will get to use it with my next companion though. Mom with the people around you who ever they are if you want to spark the testimony in other the most powerful tool you have is when an opportunity presents itself , bear your testimony to them. Tell them how much this has helped you in you life and our family. Two other suggestions that i have is invite them to come with you as their friend and to do small random act of kindness, bake them cookies or brownies or pie or something and show your love for them. And if they say no, don't take it offensively love them anyway and invite them later on. You never know how much your example can do for someone.

Grandma Gehring, i loved the music as well. I think the second song on the Sunday afternoon
was awesome. Amber Happy Birthday.
Anyway I will talk to you all later

Hello Everyone
So i hope everybody enjoyed general conference as much as me. Elder Hollands talk was way sweet. i just want to take a few minutes and tell you all how much I love this church. I love how much guidance you can get from each talk. This really is an inspired church. Just to hear the words of the prophets boost my sole and spirit. It make me excited to serve the lord and do his work. i am trying to live life on my mission in a way that at the end of it i can respond to it as Paul in the New Testiment "I have fought the good fight i have been true to the course" and have no regrets. If the mission shows you one thing it is how many flaws you really have. And if general conference does on thing it help you receive guidance to find some more flaws to work on. I hope you all had the opportunity to watch it. And for those of you that didn't go and watch it. I should be on Lds.org for another week or so and you all need to hear it if nothing else watch President Monsons Elder Holland Elder Christoffersen and Elder Clayton talks they were sweet. Anyway love yeah watch them.

Right now we have been finding some sweet people.Anyway i love ya tonz. Dad, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

Alright love ya see yaElder Loveless

So we have some Awesome news for all ya'all for here in the TSAM. Nina Gonzales has been BAPTIZED. It took some false starts but third time is the charm for Nina. She overcame the the opposition from here family and got baptized. Thank you so much for all your prayers.

And the first few week of our companionship Elder Wilms and I had a pritty dry teaching pool but the pump has been primed and the teaching pool is being feel with sweet sweet converts.

Well the weather here has started to cool down and we have finally gotten some 90-80 degree weather. This summer set a new record for days over 100 degrees which was over 60 day. We have also gotten some rain which is the best cause everything turns green in like a day.

Anyway love All ya'all

Hello Everyone

Alright so this has had it up and downs.New comp. Last week was tranfer week and Elder Tervort being the sickly child that he was got transfered up the mission doctors area in San Antonio, right next to the temple. And i got a new companero Named Elder Wilms. Elder Wilms is a studdly stud that just moved up from Criso spings the neighboring country area.

Un problema- We have noticed a problem in the area. Since the Trejos became members our teaching pool seems real shallow. So at this point we have been trying to find some new people to teach. This is a problem i hope will happen a few more time during to mission but a problem none the less.

Nina Gonzalez- Nina is back. So Nina is our down stairs neighbor. A sweet old lady that needs a few prays. She was supposed to get baptized yesterday but got caught at a family party up in San Antonio. We are going to talk to her and see if she will commit to get baptized next week so prayers needed with her.

Anyway that all for now

September 1, 2009

Alright So we have a some sweet news, beyond sweet, freakin sweat. we have some freakin sweet news from here in Hondo Texas.

First- Trejos- BAPTISM baptism baptism baptism baptism baptism baptism baptism!!!!!!!! We just had the best baptism for the Trejo family. And by 9 i meant 8 but still 8 souls recieve the saving ordance of baptism!!!!!!!! The service was packed and the ward is stoked. And the family has the most faith i have ever seen, everything we taught them was accepted with such faith. I love the moms answer to some of the commitments "I don't know how but yes". Such faith.

Next - Shoe x 2 - This month the zone ended with 24 souls receiving the saving ordinance of baptism, 24! so sweet! which means for the second month in a row we got the TSAM Shoe.

THE GRAND FINALLY- About 2-3 years ago President Hinckley commited the church to double baptisms. At that time the TSAM was baptizing appx. 50 souls. So since that time the TSAM's baptismal goal was 100 souls. This month for the first time in over 4 years we made and surpassed that goal with 108 baptisms in the month of August!!!!!!

Love Ya all,
Elder Loveless

Alright so we have had a fantastic week. At this time we have 13 progressing investigators THIRTEEN!!!!! The lord has been blessing us tonz. For everyone that is wondering what is going on with Johnny De La Rosa, He is back on the map, has been reading and praying for the last few weeks AND he has promised to quit smoking Drinking and completely obey the Word of Wisdom AND receive the saving ordinance of Baptism ON THE 16 OF SEPTEMBER! tonz of prayers still needed to get him and his family to be able to come to church every week so that the conversion will be able to last but, your prayers have been working!!Right now we are working with a lady named Candy. We have been working with Candy for the last four months she has been going to the "Cowboy Church" down here. For the last 2 weeks it has been do or die time for her. She has progressed so much in the last 4 months she is one of those investigators that just dove right into the Gospel and has been studying about the gospel almost non-stop. Right now she still hasnt got her answer. She is still drinking coffee and tea so we have commited her to stop and continue to pray and fast about it. Hopefully she will stop and get baptized. Elder Tervort is sick for the 5th time since i have been with him. This time the virus he had attacked me as well. we were only out for a day and have fully recovered this time. Elder Tervort still hasnt been able to go see a doctor to see what he has so we have no idea if he will get sick again. Also our A/C unit is starting to learn when we get sick, because the only time it breaks is when Elder Tervort gets sick and it has broken 3 out of the 5 time hes been sick. I will tell you what there are few things closer to "misery and endless woe" than being stuck in an apartment with nothing to do, with no A/C, while it is 105 degrees outside. But we survived once again.Last but certainly not least, OUR ZONE GOT THE "TSAM SHOE". Thats right we got da shoe, which for everyone that doesnt know what the TSAM Shoe is, it is has been passed around for the last 10 years to the zone that got the most baptisms each month. This month we got 14 baptisms in the South San Antonio Zone and we got da shoe. Ah yeah.Anyway Tonz of sweet things happening here in the TSAM. On the 25th of August i will only have 18 months left. 6 down 18 to go. I know you guys cant wait to see my smiling face but your gonna have to wait a few more months.

Texas has been great. It is still hot as ever. I stopped trying to wipe sweet off my face cause it back in 4 minutes anyway. We had zone conference this week up in san antonio which was sweet. We had an awesome talk by president Cutler one using the Book of Mormon to go over the most come question we faced like, Why do i need to be baptized again, or Whats the difference between your god and my god. Anyway way sweet!! We split up on to go on exchanges on the way back.

So elder DeLeo, our ZL and i went were on our way back to Hondo and we had the funnest ride home. To start it off we had a Kamikaze bird hit our windshield about 10 minutes into the trip. next we turn off the freeway onto the highway. And as a precursor the layout of Texas road suck they are just the most confusing thing in the world. Anyway driving down the "Highway" and about a mile down the road there is a sign ROAD ENDS 500 meters. Turns out our map was wrong and that side highway didn't exist and it was a ranch road now.So we get back on the Freeway and find a dirt washboard Country Road to go down, and make it to La Coste a small town about half way between Hondo and San Antonio. We get our do some tracking and found the sweetest family taking a family walk and were talking about their faith. Sickest family ever. on the sick scale the were deathly ill. So we were just pumped and we drive out to go back to Hondo. Found a gap in traffic and got on the highway. as soon as i got to the other side i see these flashing blue and red light. It turned out you are supposed to "stop" on a red light. Who knew? So we a stopped there the officer come to the window we explain we are missionaries and we just did not see the red light. he takes my information. Comes back AND... gives me a warning. I kissed my plaque after that and drove home with the cruise control on the whole time.
Anyway Love ya

Hellllloooo everyone over in Utah
This week has been fantastic as always. IT RAINED THIS WEEK and we caught up to Nina Gonzalez. And dont you guys worry the TSAM is still here and cooking.
So first off we have Nina our downstairs neighbor. Nina has been in the hospital for the last few weeks getting her knee replaced. we had an awesome lesson with her. I cant go through all of it but the highlights are that she has chosen to come to The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint to learn the gospel. so we are stoked about that. She hasnt decided to "join" the church just yet but that will come with time.RAIN!!!! So for the 3rd time in 2 months it rained here in hondo. And its not like Utah rain where you can go play in it for 15 minutes before getting wet. When it rains here in texas its like a bucket of water comes from the sky and hits you in the Face SMACK! It was way sweet to feel cold for a day though. and it kinda greened thing up.
ANyway thats all for now.

Alright so missionary work is a emotional roller coaster. the week has been a perfect example. This week we have gained 9 new Investiagators, WOOHOOO!!!!! But both Sylvia and johnny have been dropped, BOOOO. I guess easy come easy go.
Johnny- Johnny was in the hospital over the last week around thursday we were able to talk with him. Turns out like most people around her he has liver problems. While he was in the hospital he had alot of time to think about life though and i have to say it is one of the most rewarding thing ever to here your investigator say that he knows god has a plan for him. Boo Yah! In the end he still has some problems that he has to work out and he was dropped.Sylvia- So we have had an awesome appointment with our her and her family over the last week. Her daughter Sergina came to mutual. they all loved church last week. It was going good going good going good, and now we cant get a hold of she missed the last appiontment and we saw her and her family in the library and she completely avoided us. So we have no idea what happened to here whether we were to over bearing or she got antied or what but for now she is dropped.

Anyway that is all for now Talk to ya all next week

July 21, 2009

So this week has been an awesome week but there is not to much to report on. We Found a sweet new family, we had had transfers.
Sylvia And Kids- So we found the sweetest family on Saturday. It is a single Mom Sylvia and her three kids. She has one daughter Surgina (13) and two sons Ricky(9), and Ezkiel(7). But Saturday we had a real long day with no success and so finally @ 8:30 before we were going to stop for the night we knocked into Sylvia. It turns out that she had been going through a rough time and had been praying for a church to go to, to find more knowledge and we show up. So we talk to her for about 45 minutes set up a ride for her to go to church. Next morning comes and has a fantastic experience. We set her kids up with Young womens and Cub scouts. Everyone is really excited. That is the end of the story so far because we havent been able to meet with them. But we have really big hopes for their family.
Johnny- Johnny is now in the hospital with ulsers so no new on him.
Transfers- So we had transfers this week and.... nothing changed we are both staying here in Hondo.
Anyway i was thinking about it and on August 25 i will have been on my mission for 6 months, a forth of my mission, which is crazy to think because it has flown by.Thats all for now but thanks you guys for your love and support. I love you all a ton.

Alright so this has been a great week over here in the TSAM. This week we had A BAPTISM with Eddy, an awesome experience with our next door neighbor, we had another lesson with Johnny, and when to the San Antonio Temple.

Eddy- So this week we got Eddy Baptized. It was sweeeet. He had his best friend Curtis Beck baptize him. It was a water side confirmation and Bro Beck confirmed him a member. All and all just a fantastic baptism. And like i said earlier since his family arent supportive at all with his decition, the Beck family are basically his home away from home. Eddy is a sweet kid and if he can stay out of the crap here in Hondo he is going to go far.

Nina- Alright so We just had a sweet experience with Nina our 60 year old Nieghbor right below us we have been teaching her son Alec for awhile and before that we had taught her for a while with no success (she has been doing bible studies with the J-w's and she cant remember anything past a day so). But she promised us that she was going to church this week and see what our church was like. Well right before church we went over to see if she was ready for church. She comes to the door looking horrible. She invites us in and about every third she is wincing in pain and grabbing her stomach. It turns out that she had a hernia in her stomach and she couldn't come. Earlier she went to the ER to get it fixed and they told her she need surgery. In the back of my mind i am thinking to give her a blessing, I ignore the prompting and continue talking. On the way out the door i get the prompting again this time i thought "you are going to refuse this women a witness of the power of the priesthood because you wont offer her a blessing. Come on just do it". So we give her the blessing. After it was done she waddled over to show us the dress she wanted to wear. Well we leave and go to church and about 15 minutes into sacrament meeting here comes Nina to go church. She looked greated and she not only stayed for the the 3 hours of church but the baptism afterwards and she didn't wince once, not once. so we made an appointment to talk to her and debreaf her about what went on in the baptism. It turns out when we left she got up and told herself "I am going to go surprise those boys". So she got up, put her dress on and went to church. We only live about a block from the church so it wasn't to far for her to walk. During our appointment later that night she said she "Just felt happy". And it was true when we were eating dinner before the appointment she never stopped moving, she was doing her laundry walking around the neighborhood. It was cool how she explained the feelings she felt while getting to blessing and while she was at church. She said she just felt cold all over ( or the chills) and then the pain was gone. There was also a ringing in her ear that she had been praying for it leave and in her ears and in her words: it was ringing ringing ringing and pop it stopped and i haven't heard it since. It was just the coolest experiences ever.

Johnny- This week we learned Johnny's mom is trying to ship him off to Houston. And we have had to post pone his Baptism for 2 week because of the word of wisdom. Sooo, we will see what is going to happen with him later. On a side note his two daughters and ex wife weren't able to come to church yesterday. We called them 10 minutes before church started and they said they were just on their getting to youngest boy, Juanhelio in his cloths and they would be there. I guess they got lost in transit.

Temple- We went to the temple this week. Its cool because it is a small temple but out of the small temples it is was the most expensive per-square of any other temple. I don't know what it what but it just reminded me of the Shire off of Lord of the Rings. I think it was that All of the stain glass windows on the outside where of either the forest or of grain, all the doors had circles on them and there was a very short man in there. Anyway past that it was a very cool temple.

Raschel- Tell Kelani and jimmy that my arm feels great and that her prays worked!!!!
Mom- Alice is johnny's ex wife and we are trying to first get her approval before we can get Sabrina and Vacilia baptized, But she wont give her apporval until she comes to church but she seems to be having troubles coming to church so...yeah. And Thank you for trowing away the Crisco
Everyone Else- I read your emails and i loved them i just dont have time to write back to them

see yeah

Written July 6

We have been stressin out here in hondo with johnny's baptism. we got it all planned everyone's talks assigned and then he didnt show up. Not only that we talk to his daughters mom and she wants to make sure that her kids know what they are getting themselves into so they werent able to get baptized either. We had a great fourth of july though at a members house so that was fun.Johnny De la Rosa-- We have been work real hard with johnny this week. it the past johnny was a fighter mainly on the streets. Along with that he drank alot and smoked alot. Basically he has had a real rough life and his old lif seems to be caughting up with him alot, now that he is trying to change. And we knew that he was slipping with his cigarettes and fighting. So this week we have been basically in daily contact with him and give him as much support as possible. For the 4th of july we knew satan was going to test him hardcore. So we set up Bar-B-Que with one of the members that he could go to and get away from his house. and meet with him that day to make sure he was coming. We meet with him and he seemed pritty tired real loopy and we learned he has an ulser that he has to go get blood for. He said he was coming and so we left. At the bar-b-que we called him. He didnt answer. Called again. He didnt answer. We didnt hear from him till the family that normally picks him up for church came in with out him. It turns out after we left he took a nap, slept through the BBQ, and then woke up at 2 o clock in the morning and starts tring to find something to do. When he went out into the street in front of his house his ex-wifes uncle calls him over to him. when johnny gets there he starts provoking him. provokes him alittle more and the WHAM clocks him across the face. We had talked to johnny about not fighting and just walking away to he turn around after just getting hit and tries to walk away. the uncle then turns him around again and WHAM clocks him again. So then johnny got into it with his uncle. Needless to say, he was in no shape to get baptized and when Elder Tervort went over to his house his teeth were bleeding and his jaw was swollen up. Earlier in the week we went and talked to Johnny's ex-wife Alicia about her daughters getting baptized. She wanted to wait and make sure that they knew what they were getting into. but it was freakin sweet. So the mom turns to the 10 year old daughter and asked her what it meant to be baptized, expecting her daughter to know nothing about it, and sabrina, age 10 just goes off and tell her mom all about what we had taught her, all about the holy ghost, what happens at baptism when we get was clean of our sins. Then she starts going off about the sun, the moon, stars about the pre earth life tells us that she going to go to the sun. It was the most vindicating moments ever. She remembered what we had taught her. Just fantastic. Then we turn to the mom and asked her if she need to get any help getting to church to see johnnys baptism. She never came because we never had the baptism but it was still an awesome moment.Eddy-- I mentioned eddy in the last letter but Eddy is a former investigator from two transfers ago that appeared back on the map. He has been going to church with a family in our ward for a while and he is really familar with the church, Has freinds in the ward, basically he is a member but he just hasn't gotten baptized yet. the reason he didnt get baptized before was because he wasn't 18 and he didn't have a very supportive family. He now he is 18 so it solves both problems. Long story short he is getting baptized next week and he is STOKED. Nothing we do in missionary work is a sure thing but if there was ever a investigator that would get baptized it would be him.We had exchanges with the Zone Leaders this week i went to San Antonio, it was fun to speak alittle spanish again. By the way the BBQ on the fourth was fantastic we got chicken smoke with mesquite and had fun talking with the ward. Later we stopped tracking at 8 and went and did fireworks with another family in our ward, the Romeros. Oh and i think the mice have retreated because we have only caught 2 all week, which is good because the battle was starting to get alittle gorey and there was blood everywhere.
So that was my week
Mom-- it is good to hear that you are making new friend with the people around the blockRob-- What?Jannene-- Thanks for the love. And the apartment is great the only problem is that the mice seem to have the same oppinion.Raschel-- I need to work on my follow through but after that i will be the best dunker ever.G-Ma Loveless-- Thank you so much for the letters, I read them, I love them, I just hope one of these days i will be able to reply to one of them

Alright so i will start with the awesome news, This week we have 4 peeps with a Baptismal date, BOO YAH!!. We have Jonny and his daughter Sabrina, age 11 with a date this week the 5th, and Vacilia Johnny's oldest age 13, and Eddy Rodrigez next week the 12th. Johnny is going strong, we got his one his three youngest kids to come to church this week, which was sweet and... they loved it. Vacilia the oldest daughter was able to come to church but hopefully she will be hear of her sisters experience and get to church.
This week we have been having a war with Nature. Last week we figured out that our apartment has Mice, so we went to war. We now have 4 traps set at all time. so far we have killed 29 mice and counting. the mouse trap seems to be snapping at all times in the day. Our best day was wednsday when we caught 8 mice, at one point all 4 traps had mice in them. Our greastest triumph so far is the "two-fer", where we caught two mice on one trap at the same time, We got two-fer-one and yes we have pictures of it. I think we have scared the mice off when they saw that we were caughting them 2 at a time becuase we havn't caught any mice for two days.
Anyway everything is going good here. Everyone thankyou for you letters, love, and supported I couldnt do it with out you guys. Alright love ya all bye.

So Not much is going on here in Hondo. So our area from tip to tip is about 260 miles long we cover about 6 small towns out here, so it is huge.We are the only two missionarys for 50 miles so we stay pritty isolated from the rest of the mission out here. We have a truck which is nice becuase its an oven out here, This whole week it has been about 103 with the humidity. Most everyone speaks english out here even the Mexicans so i mostly speak english. My companion, Elder Trevort, is the district leader here which is cool. He is a way sweet missionary and works hard so it nice, it makes it easier to lose yourself in the work. He Got the flu over this last week and so we had two days where we stayed indoors. He is fine now i have been feelling great. We Got one investigator with a baptismal date over the last week, which is sick. His name is Johnny, oh and his daughter was sitting there listening intently so while it was our first time meeting her we got her with a target date too, Thats how we do it in the TSAM. But Elder Trevort knocked into Johnny Boy he is a single dad with 3 kids, he lives w/ his parents and everything so far has been going good. Satan seem to work the hardest on people right before they do something great and with Johnny we are starting to see that so we are starting to get nervious right now but hopefully everything will pan out. Well i hope ya all know by know that i love guys. I hope everything is still going good. I hope brother Jarvis is alright. Here is my new address for all ya all

Ok so i didnt quite make it to the border. I they dropped me off alittle early. Anyway there is a small town inbetween the border and San Antonio named Hondo texas. If you googlemap it, it is only about a mile and a half from one side of town to the other and the nearest town is about 20 miles away, I am there. Talking with the ward it seems like there is alot of work to do out here though, out of 400 people on the ward roster only 70-100 people are considered active. Most people in Hondo have heard our message so it seems like that is where the most potentail is. Hopefully we can reactivate 300 people and get a few people baptized as well.Alright well i love ya all

Alright so last week we had a great week here in the TSAM ( Texas San Antonio Mission). Our zone had 6 people baptized yesterday which is Fantastic. And yesterday i had my first chance to baptize someone and it was sweet. He is a 10 year old Kid named Johnathan just an awesome kid. About a month and a half ago his grandma and mom came up to the bishop and told him they wanted him to get baptized. We taught for three week each tuesday and had a date for him to get baptized when he completely fell off the face of the planet and missed his date. It was strange because he has been coming to church for awhile with his grandma. After two week we just dropped him and moved on. And then last week his grandma called out of the blue on day and told us he was at the church and we needed to teach him. We come over taught him and got him baptized Sunday. It was such a relief it so frusarateing to see the easy ones slip between the cracks, but it all worked out for the best so i guess it all good.AdiosElder Loveless

Alright so it turn i do have some stories for ya all the. First So for p-day we're able to go and play sports or go shopping food. so two weeks ago we went to a member house which was a ballin house right on the river with their own baseball field football field pool, just ballin. But so we were playing a little football and i caught one pass and came down from the pass and some how my feet go tangled with another elders and i came down hard on my shoulder and just heard a pop. I stood up and tried to start playing again but my arm wouldn't lift up it sucked. So after a few minutes i decided i probably could play without lifting up my arm so i went inside. Two hours later i was sitting in the emergency room. They told me that i had torn my rotator cuff. I set up an appointment for a specialist. At the specialist office, a week later, they correct that diagnosis and told me i had separated my collar bone from my shoulder blade. They grade them from 1-5 1- it pops out and goes back in 3- you get surgery and 5 it sticks out of the flesh. Turns out i have a 2 which means out of socket but i don't have surgery. But everything is fine and my arm has been able to raise more and more everyday. I want to stress i am fine and there is no need to worry about me Also i is funny that you guys asked my about weird food cause later that like 2 days after i talked to you i had the most disgusting meal of my life. Alright so it went a little like this. So we went over a members house. She had feed us a few time before and but that night she decided to treat us with a "mexican delicasy", Mundo. For those of you that don't know what mundo is i will explain it. Mundo is the inner lining of the cows stomach and intestines. There two types one has a honeycomb texture on one side and a really slimy texture on the other. the second has a almost hairy texture To be Continued......

Mundo... it is just covered in "cilia" with a slimy side. It was nasty. I could get past the fact that my stomach was going to digest stomach i don't know how that would or should wark stomach should digest stomach. And she did a really good job of preparing it but occasionally you just gott a whiff of straight raw sewage. Horrible. but it gets worse. As a side dish we hash Chicharon. Chicharon is raw uncooked pig fat. just a big slab of pig fat. I almost puked while sitting there. Anyway i apologize if anyones stomach is sick now but i had to tell ya all about but i have to go now. See ya

Airplane ride, New Companions, Texas, and Baptisms

Texas is the best place on earth. It's fantastic here my and so are my new companions- and yes I am in another trio but it alright cause they're sweet guys- are Elder Loumeau and Elder Orme, the Zone leaders here in the Lake Austin Ward in Austin. Man I have no idea where to start. Alright from the top I was able to do a few approaches at the airport. They went well. With one I met the Mayor of South Ogden. It was sweet he was in his skater\tennis shoes and tee shirt. It turns out he was a member for 30 years going off to a committee in San Antonio. Then on the plane I talked to a pharmacist salesman also a member. Then we touched down in San Antonio and at the luggage claim. I talked to our pilot from our plane and introduced him to our church. We met our Mission President President Cutler, went to his house ate. After We got to the Alamo and got proselyte there, again sweet. We did get to tour the Alamo because it closed right when we got there, But still it was cool to be there. So that night me and my group of 18 other missionaries sleep at the Assistants to the Presidents house and two other apts. I then got told about and shipped up to Austin Texas, Gods country, to meet my new companions. The moment I got here they put my luggage into the apartment, ate and we went proselyting and teaching people for the rest of the night. To be continued...

... So over the last few days I have taught around 20 different lessons. We constantly just work all day long and never stop. If an appointment fall through we knock, from 6 o'clock in the morning to 10:30 at night So we are in the ghetto here in Austin and there are a ton of humble people that like to here about our message so get to teach a lot lessons. Some of the success stories are that we just attended a baptism for another companionship yesterday and we now have two with dates to take the plunge.
Anyway like always love you all But the time is up.

Ryan

P.S. A little explanation about the title. The Texas pride here is everywhere. So we were driving down the freeway on our way to Austin and there was a big Street sign that said "Don't mess with Texas", it was hilarious

Leaving

Hello everyone,

For all ya all that don't know I am Going to Texas TOMORROW!!! at 9:45 and will be arriving there at 1:45 Texas time I don't know what time that is here, you do the math. But, this week has been awesome I have some really cool experiences at the RC (Referral Center- which is a place where people can call up or chat using the number off of the pass along cards or off of mormon.org and talk to the missionaries about any questions they have about our church, it is basically the only place us MTC missionaries can do actual missionary work) But I have two experiences. The first was I logged on to the chat and I was talking to a lady that was once a member of the church but had gone inactive. Anyway I was talking to her and she was offend a few years back stopped going to church and stopped praying and reading the scriptures and basically came to a point where she was no longer happy. Well I gave her two talks the Supernal Gift of Prayer by Richard G. Scott and Thou Shalt Not be Offended by Elder Bednar. She read them on the spot and then I got to commit her to go to church. The end of this story kinda sucks because I set up a return appointment and she never showed but I still got to show her the path and it seems like she was going to follow it. Also I got to talk on the phone to a lady from Missouri ish area that just had a baby and was searching for a new church. Well anyway an Hour and half later I had explained the doctrine of our church, got her to take a Book of Mormon, and go to our church for the first time. So anyway the church is progressing and we are bringing in lost sheep. For all my family members I'm going to be calling the house when I fly out at 9 o'clock ish depending on how every thing works out and hope to hear from everyone. Wish me luck I have to practice my airport approaches.

See Ya all latter

Easter letter

Hello everyone

So first i would like to say that i am sorry to hear that both Uncle Buz and Grandma Arnold passed but at least we have the knowlegde that we will see them again. So there is no need to worry.I am glad to hear that lani passed her first test with flying colors. Tell her to follow her uncle and pass the rest of them with flying colors... actually don't tell her that, cuase then she will fail them and i will feel bad, test were never my forte.

But...I GET MY FLIGHT PLANS THIS THURSDAY and will soon be in the field, which is fantastic.Um.. passed that, i regret to inform you guys that my pantry is full over here and it will take me at least two weeks to eat it all. So there is no need to send any food items anymore whereas i wont be able to fit them in my suitcase. Now small items of fabric can be sent if they arent from the 80's, you know what i mean Christy and everyone else that knows what that means...ties.

Raschel thank you for you helping me out w/ facebook and i thought note in the toilet is keind of funny but what do i know i have been in the MTC for a month now and it has distorted my sence of humor.Any way love you all BYE

Conference- We are all Nobodies

Hello everyone I hope you all watched conference it was an awesome one. I think Elder Hales and President Ucdorf’s talks were my favorite. And my favorite quote from it all was “… We are all nobodies…” (Neil L. Anderson) I have definitely figured that one out the hard way here at the MTC. Other than that there really isn’t all that much to report. I leave here in 3 WEEKS though which will be great. I love this place but I am ready to go out into the field and talk to real people and teach them our Mensaje (message). One of my companions just figured out that he is leaving a week early and I got to say I am kinda jealous, I know I can still learn a lot here but I am ready to get out there and teach.Anyway con amor Elder Loveless

L Tom Perry, First Hotdog and Another Elder Named Ray

Hello,

Not much has changed here at the MTC. I think I am digressing in my Spanish abilities though. Or at least it seems that I losing what I have already learned. Oh well, when I get out I will know enough to say hello at least. Alright I have some big moments at the MTC but I want to talk about home first. So I am glad to hear that grandma Arnold is doing well and I am also glad to hear that she remembers who I am. Last time I went over there she didn’t remember me at all. Don’t tell her that though she’ll probably send me some hate mail. Nah, the I am doing fine here and I am glad to hear she is still kicking, OK don’t tell her that last part either Um… tell her that I love her.

I hope Jimmy and Lani found all their candy on St. Patties Day

OK so some big moments of the MTC#1. So every Tuesday Night we have devotionals. Usually members of the MTC presidency or clerk talk to us but… last week we had L Tom Perry and his wife give a talk. They talked about companionship Unity and it was Bueno.#2 And this is a big one, My companion Elder Taylor at his first hot dog and 3rd ham sandwich in his life on Monday.# 3 This morning while doing laundry and then again about twenty minutes ago while i was at the temple doing a session I meet another Elder Loveless, but wait it gets weirder. His name is Joshua Ray Loveless and my name is Ryan Ray Loveless. It turns out that he is grandpas brothers grandson from sandy. And he is named after Ray Loveless our great grandpa. Its cool trust me. Any way time is short so Talk to you later

Ryan,

Yes the food is the same and we are a very "musical" group and everyone in our group has a very light sense of humor so it is fun.

Saint Patty's Day Email From Ryan

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Alright so this letter might be short. I just spent most of my time setting up an address book for everyone, but everyone should now be getting the emails. Anyway everything is going great here and there isn't much to report. We had movie night on Sunday and watched Legacy. As for the work.... Spanish is coming slowly but surely. I can now pray, bear my testimony and I am starting to be able to put sentences together. I can definitely feel the Lord working with me because I know that there would be no way I could have done so much on my own. I hope everything is going wonderful. Again I thank everyone for all your love and support letters and packages, again especially mom. On that note Mom, just keep in mind I have no way to refrigerating anything. Even though i do love cream cheese. Any way I love you all.

Ryan

P.S. If their is anyones email that I don't have that want me to send them email send it to me.

Ryan's First Letter Home

Ryan wrote home. I'm not really sure what his address is yet but I'll have it soon. I don't want to post his address on this blog. If you click on the pick you can see it big enough to see what it says.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

When Ryan left he still had a few things to take care of. He had wrecked his car around Christmas time and selling it was on the to do list.

The day that Ryan went into the MTC my dad had it for sell on the road. I just had to snap a picture of it because it was hilarious. I wish I would have taken one in the day time but it was sold early the next day to one of Ryan's cousins.

Arrival at the MTC

Ryan went into the MTC this week. It was a happy time! It's good to know he is in the right place = )

Endowments and Dinner

Here are some pics from Ryan's mom's camera. She was really good and made sure that Ryan's Endowment was documented. Good thing since no one else did right!

Grandma Myrleen, Grandma Joan, Grandpa Jay, Russ (Dad), Cheryl (Mom), Raschel, Christy, Jordan, and Keaka all attended. All others had very good reasons not to come but they really wanted to be there!

Ryan was told that he needed to wear white shoes to the temple..... he just wasn't told that you take them off before you leave. Oh well... you learn new thing every day right.

Dad paid for everyone to have lunch at Chuck a Rama after the temple. He really is such a nice guy!

Pics from Mom's camera... once again she saves the day!

The Call

Ryan's call finally came. When it arrived the post date on call showed that it had been in the mail for more than two weeks! You can imagine the anticipation!

Keaka playing the drum roll as Ryan opens his call..... the air it thick with anticipation.

San Antonio Texas- Spanish speaking! Yeah everyone in our Mexico going family was certainly happy of that. He will be very useful Spanish speaker in two years.

Everyone gathered around to view the ins and outs of the mission call.
Guest had been waiting an hour for Ryan to get off of work. All were certainly eager to here the call. Ryan seemed to be the calmest one there it was the rest of us who were making a fuss!

Kamalani sharing a few words of advice on the mission rules.

I uploaded this image fairly large so if you click on the map you can see the details.

Last Days - Fishing at Burston Pond

With no job Ryan found some time to spend his last day in Utah doing some fishing and hangin out with family and friends.
